WOMEN UNITED

When women join hands to face some of our region’s greatest challenges, powerful change happens.

Women United is a diverse network of women leaders from across the region who are making a positive impact in local communities. Through a commitment to leadership, philanthropy and volunteerism, Women United is focused on building a generation of youth who are poised for success.

Women United offers:

Girls Today, Leaders Tomorrow

  • Girls Today, Leaders Tomorrow (GTLT) program is a signature program our Women United designed to empower women and girls in the Southeastern PA region
  • Starting in seventh grade, girls who are struggling in school and making poor choices are connected with GTLT to help guide them back on track to high school graduation, and beyond
  • Through a focus on personal goals and achievement, each GTLT participant outlines their path to college and career through the support of their peers and GTLT staff
  • Since its inception in 2007, 400 girls have completed the GTLT program

Success By 6

  • In Atlantic County, Women United focuses on building strong foundations in early reading through Success By 6®, United Way’s early childhood development initiative
  • Programs such as First Book are building at-home libraries in low-income neighborhoods to ensure children have access to quality, age-appropriate books.
  • An annual kindergarten readiness calendar guides parents to use everyday teaching moments to prepare them for the classroom.
  • Ready, Set, READ! deploys caring volunteer readers in local preschools to share the experience of reading and get children excited about books.

Women’s Leadership Initiative Next Generation Women Leaders (WING)

Through our WING network, emerging women leaders age 35 and under can cultivate their philanthropic interests while building a strong network of Women United members. WING members engage in special partnerships with nonprofit organizations serving at-risk women and girls, and help to foster creative ideas, build relationships and energize our next generation leaders to make a difference in our community.

WING engages women leaders:
