Managing Director, Business Operations

Sonjeya serves as Managing Director of Business Operations of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) but is best described as our Navigator. Sonjeya leads the management and analysis of UWGPSNJ’s enterprise-level systems and data to drive informed, strategic decision making. As our Compliance Officer, Sonjeya ensures our team’s adherence to regulatory and legal requirements so that all donations and grant funds are properly process and used in our fight against poverty.

Prior to joining United Way, Sonjeya served as Special Assistant in the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Office of Contracts, as well as a program analyst in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General. With more than 15 years of experience in operational compliance and grant administration, Sonjeya understands the importance of a strong data and operational infrastructure for our team’s success.

Sonjeya is a graduate of Stockton University (B.A.) and New York University (M.P.A.). She has been active on several boards and associations across the region including serving as the Delaware Valley Chapter Chairperson for PEAK Grantmaking (formerly the Grant Manager’s Network).

When not at work, Sonjeya enjoys reading, completing DIY home improvement projects, and spending time with her family.
