Sonjeya Fitzgerald

Managing Director, Business Operations

Sonjeya Fitzgerald is Managing Director, Business Operations at United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. Sonjeya leads the management and analysis of enterprise-level data to drive informed, strategic decision-making. She also serves as Compliance Officer, ensuring adherence to regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies and bylaws.

With more than 15 years of experience in operational compliance and grant administration, she understands the importance of a strong data and operational infrastructure for success.

Prior to joining United Way, Sonjeya served as Special Assistant in the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Office of Contracts where she implemented operational standards for the more than $200 million in grants awarded annually. She also previously served as a program analyst in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General where she focused on detecting fraud, waste and abuse in federally funded programs.

Sonjeya has been active on several boards and associations across the region including serving as the Delaware Valley Chapter Chairperson for PEAK Grantmaking (formerly the Grant Manager’s Network). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stockton University, a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University, and a Certificate in Business Analytics from the University of Pennsylvania.
