United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey is pleased to be your philanthropic partner this #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back to our local communities.
On #GivingTuesday this December 1, we’re asking our donors, partners and friends to give a child a gift that lasts a lifetime – the ability to read! Your support truly matters. Just ask Tiffany.
Tiffany used to have a hard time reading because she didn’t have access to books. Through United Way, her classroom was supplied with new books and she also spent time with volunteers who helped her and fellow classmates read aloud. She was also able to take books home to read even more. As a result, Tiffany discovered a new love for reading! And more importantly, she built her ability to read…for life.
On #GivingTuesday, you can give the gift of reading to more children like Tiffany by donating to support United Way’s early literacy work. Last year, some of our work helped more than 1,000 young learners become better readers.
Your gift will give even more children in our region the chance to become good readers through some our early literacy efforts, including:
United Way’s Early Grade Literacy Program, which helps children in targeted School District of Philadelphia elementary schools become proficient readers by the end of third grade by providing books and reading resources in classrooms and at home, while also connecting students with volunteer readers.
Raising a Reader, an early literacy program of United Way’s Success by 6® initiative, connects children, parents, child care providers and libraries in Atlantic and Cape May counties to provide access to books and encourage daily reading.
This #GivingTuesday and every day, together, we can drive measurable, lasting Impact that none of us can achieve alone. Thank you for Living United!
