UNITED WAY IMPACT GRANT INVESTMENT PROCESS: FY 2015-17
United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) is your local partner to drive measurable, lasting Impact throughout our region that none of us can achieve alone.
We work to ensure that individuals and families have access to the resources they need right now, while also addressing the root causes of some of our region’s most persistent challenges. For far too many of our most vulnerable neighbors, these challenges are connected to issues of Education, Income and Health.
We believe that everyone deserves a quality education from cradle to career, the opportunity to build skills required for work that pays a family-sustaining income and access to the resources they need — when they need them — to maintain good health and in times of crisis. Learn more about our Impact Agenda.
Investing in Results
Through the Impact Fund, we invest in local organizations and programs that deliver measurable results in the areas of Education, Income, and Health, as well as those that strengthen our regional safety net.
For the first time as a merged organization, UWGPSNJ completed its first regional three-year funding opportunity for nonprofit agencies in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey working to improve our local communities — and lift our region overall — through these priority areas.
Menu of Strategies
UWGPSNJ invests in agency Impact Partners whose programs and/or services target specific individuals or groups and fulfill defined required (and preferred) program components for each of the following strategy areas:
Education – better prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to learn, learn to read at grade level by the end of third grade, and stay on track to graduate high school college- and career-ready
Income – help more working individuals and families improve their financial literacy and stability
Health – build healthier communities for all children, adults and families
Basic Needs – support our most vulnerable neighbors when they need a hand up the most
Advocacy - educate both policy makers and community members on important issues to promote long-term solutions that improve education, income and health, as well as those that ensure basic human needs are met
